Hong Kong Today

Posted November 19th, 2020

Many are asking me what is the situation in Hong Kong that should not be confused with the situation in China from which Hong Kong is divided by a border that is currently closed for entry to anyone who is not a Hong Kong citizen.

I admit that I find it hard to answer. Was there ever a real emergency in Hong Kong?

Can we consider an emergency or even a pandemic, 5480 total cases over 11 months and 108 deaths in all?

Do these numbers really represent an emergency for a city/state with over 8 million inhabitants like Hong Kong?

And even if you don't want to believe these numbers (even if the reason escapes me, but as you know people always believe in thier own numbers and never in those of others), you have to acknowledge that there has never been any hospital in trouble and no assault on the emergency room.

I have read someone say that this is the result of the measures taken and the civic sense. But the numbers remained roughly the same before and after the measures.

In recent days, the cases of positive people have not exceeded 12.

Nonetheless, the media and government authorities continue to spread concern and alarmism.

E, per vincere la paura, do one thing every day that scares you. Fear defeats more people than any other one thing in the world. Diciamo a noi stessi I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship. We are more often frightened than hurt, and we suffer more from imagination than from reality,. Sometimes even to live is an act of courage. What else?

Come mi è cara Hong Kong!
