A few days ago I fell upon a comment by an incredulous follower of Luogocomune (www.luogocomune.net) who was flabbergasted by the images of Bin Laden, Aldo Moro, the moon landing, and by controlled demolitions, in the background, during one of my musical numbers choreographed for "Pinocchio", a song written for me by Pino Daniele, that aired on Rai 1 during the second show of Nemica Amatissima.
I must admit that the disbelief is mine!
How is this so, I have been asking myself since it aired, that no one from the audience, no one from the mainstream media, always observant and quit-witted towards my behaviour, weighing each and every word I say or write, and, my gestures, caught on the crystal clear message in the choreography?
No one asked why those symbolic images, so emblematic, were linked to a lie.
Yet the lyrics are self-evident: "this world is a lie, it isn't my fault ... I am only a puppet".
And the choreography ends, without a shadow of a doubt, as the camera zooms in, with a closeup of me in front of Lego twins towers, in the middle of two toy airplanes.
In spite of the fact that I am American!
At this point, I don't know if I should be grateful, to a certain degree, that I had the liberty to express what is considered today, or I might say, the language in accordance these days called "post truth" or on second thought, I should feel disheartened and mournful for the ataraxia widespread that has muted the Italians' last gasp of outrage.
